Thus far there's been a bit of a parallel between the Arryns and the Hightowers in that they're both (at least potentially) run by crazies and have kept to themselves in order to avoid the mess. This is our best seller for a reason. They're a very large and powerful house that's been suspiciously quiet throughout the entirety of the events leading up to TWoW. I think the Hightowers are likely going to be portrayed via Sam and his dealings at Oldtown. I wouldn't be surprised if they do, but it seems a slim chance. The Daynes seem like a proud house with an interesting relic and custom, but I don't think there have been any implications that the sword or the house will play a huge role. Sure, blockades suck and losing your ships does too, but who cares? The Greyjoys have all the necessary ingredients for an epic implosion, and all that's missing is the spark.

Couple their inexperience in land warfare with the trouble brewing between the brothers and on the Islands, I just don't see them as a potential threat. Thus far, their plan is essentially: Get Dany, marry her, get dragons, do stuff. Neither Euron nor Victarion have shown any prowess in the latter. I agree that the Ironborn will cause havoc as would-be Vikings, but colonization and strategy on land are two things they utterly lack. There have been a long list of Ironborn failures in this series, but very few successes. Though I suspect they're going to get decimated by Euron if/when he moves on Oldtown House Hightower on the other hand is as powerful (or stronger) as a Great House without the title. House Yronwood is the most powerful Dornish House after Martell anyway. I never got the impression House Dayne was that big a deal, it just has produced good Knights.
